Knysna Municipality Internship 2025 Now Accepting Applications

This programme is part of a national initiative by the National Treasury to upskill unemployed graduates with hands-on experience in municipal financial operations. If you’re ready to build a strong foundation in public sector finance, this internship could be your next big step.

The MFMIP is designed to empower finance graduates with the technical and professional experience needed to thrive in municipal financial environments. This internship aligns with the Municipal Finance Management Act (MFMA) and is supported by the National Treasury’s Finance Intern Skills Development Programme.

Interns will work across key departments like Finance, Risk, and Internal Audit, gaining firsthand exposure to GRAP standards, MFMA implementation, and key municipal policies.

Minimum Requirements:

To be considered for the Knysna MFMIP Internship, applicants must:

  • Have matriculated in the Knysna area
  • Hold a three-year Degree or National Diploma (NQF Level 7) majoring in:
    • Accounting
    • Finance
    • Business
    • (Internal Audit / Risk Management is a plus)
  • Be currently unemployed
  • Demonstrate good written and verbal communication skills
  • Be computer literate

Important Notes for Applicants:

  • Successful candidates will sign both an Internship Agreement and Employment Contract
  • Full participation in training programmes is compulsory
  • Interns will be subject to the Municipal Disciplinary Code
