The SANParks Internship Programme provides unemployed graduates with valuable work experience, professional training, and skills development within various departments of the organization. This internship is designed for individuals who are passionate about conservation, environmental management, tourism, and administrative support within the public sector.
Internships are available in various disciplines, including but not limited to:
- Conservation & Environmental Management (Ecology, Biodiversity, Wildlife Science, Nature Conservation)
- Tourism & Hospitality (Tourism Management, Hospitality, Eco-tourism)
- Finance & Supply Chain Management (Accounting, Financial Management, Procurement)
- Human Resources (HR) & Administration
- Marketing, Communication & Public Relations
- Information Technology (IT) & Geographic Information Systems (GIS)
- Law & Compliance (Legal Studies, Environmental Law, Corporate Governance)
Interns will gain hands-on experience by working on projects and assisting in day-to-day operations, including:
- Conducting research and supporting conservation projects
- Assisting in the planning and execution of tourism initiatives
- Supporting finance, HR, and administrative functions
- Engaging with stakeholders, communities, and conservation partners
- Contributing to marketing, social media, and awareness campaigns
- Assisting with data collection, analysis, and reporting
- South African citizenship
- A completed National Diploma, Bachelor's Degree, or equivalent qualification in a relevant field
- No prior full-time work experience (previous internship experience is allowed)
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently and within a team
- A passion for conservation, sustainability, and public service
- Candidates from previously disadvantaged backgrounds and persons with disabilities are encouraged to apply.
- Interns will be placed at SANParks Head Office in Pretoria or other designated SANParks facilities as per departmental needs.
- Successful candidates will receive mentorship, training, and career guidance during the programme.
