The PRASA Internship Program is a structured, 12- to 24-month training initiative aimed at equipping unemployed graduates with practical workplace experience in various business and technical fields. Interns will gain valuable exposure to railway operations, engineering, finance, human resources, information technology, and administration, while working alongside experienced professionals in a fast-paced transportation environment.
This program is designed to bridge the gap between academic learning and practical work experience, enhancing employability and preparing interns for careers within the public transport sector and beyond.
- Participate in on-the-job training and mentorship programs within assigned departments.
- Assist with administrative tasks, research, and project coordination.
- Gain hands-on experience in railway operations, maintenance, safety, and infrastructure management.
- Support teams in data collection, report writing, and analysis to improve service delivery.
- Learn about transport policies, rail safety regulations, and public sector operations.
- Attend training workshops, meetings, and industry-related events.
- Complete internship assessments, reports, and projects as required.

To qualify for the PRASA Internship Program, applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Education: Must have a National Diploma or Degree in a relevant field from a recognized institution.
- Age: Typically between 18 and 35 years old.
- Skills & Attributes:
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Analytical thinking and problem-solving abilities.
- Basic computer literacy (MS Office, email, internet).
- Ability to work independently and in a team.
- A keen interest in public transportation and infrastructure development.
- Residency: Preference may be given to candidates residing in South Africa.
- Work Authorization: Must be a South African citizen or hold valid work authorization.
- Availability: Must be available for the full duration of the internship.
- Monthly stipend during the internship.
- Hands-on industry experience in public transport operations.
- Professional mentorship from industry experts.
- Exposure to large-scale projects and government infrastructure development.
