Job Description

The Department of Agriculture Internship Programme is designed for young graduates looking to gain hands-on experience in various agricultural fields. Interns will be exposed to different aspects of agricultural policy, research, administration, and rural development projects.

Key Responsibilities

Assist in agricultural research, policy development, and rural support initiatives.
Support administrative functions within different departmental units.
Conduct fieldwork, data collection, and analysis for agricultural projects.
Participate in sustainability, environmental, and food security programs.
Work with farmers, cooperatives, and agribusinesses on development projects.
Assist in developing and implementing agricultural education and awareness campaigns.
Engage with stakeholders, including government agencies, NGOs, and research institutions.

Requirements

Must be a South African citizen.
Age: Between 18 and 35 years old.
Must have a National Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in one of the following fields:
- Agriculture or Agronomy
- Environmental Science
- Agricultural Economics
- Animal Science or Veterinary Science
- Food Science and Technology
- Horticulture
- Forestry
- Rural Development
- Supply Chain Management
- Business Administration
- Finance or Human Resources
Strong analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills.
Willingness to work in rural areas and engage with farming communities.
Ability to work both independently and in a team.
No prior formal work experience is required (entry-level internship).
