Description

The City of Johannesburg (CoJ) is offering the EPWP Youth Employment Programme 2026 under its Expanded Public Works Programme (EPWP) to empower unemployed youth with meaningful work experience in the public health and social development sector.

This initiative focuses on HIV/AIDS awareness, community health education, data management, and field coordination through ward-based outreach programmes. Successful candidates will gain practical experience while contributing to community upliftment and public health improvement in Johannesburg.

Available EPWP Internship Opportunities
1. EPWP Jozi Ihlomile Educators (Health Department)

Responsible for door-to-door community education on:

  • HIV/AIDS awareness
  • Tuberculosis (TB)
  • Sexually Transmitted Infections (STIs)
  • Substance abuse prevention
  • Gender-based violence & social issues

Key Role: Educate communities and refer individuals to relevant social and health services.

2. EPWP Jozi Ihlomile Site Coordinators

Responsible for:

  • Monitoring and supporting field educators
  • Ensuring smooth implementation of ward-based programmes
  • Recording and reporting activities at community level

Key Role: Supervise field operations and ensure programme effectiveness.

3. EPWP Jozi Ihlomile Data Coordinators

Responsible for:

  • Data capturing and reporting
  • Administrative and clerical support
  • Collecting and verifying programme data
  • Using MS Office for reporting (Word, Excel, Outlook)

Key Role: Support programme monitoring through accurate data management.

Requirements
  • Grade 12 / Matric (NQF Level 4)
  • Age between 18–35 years
  • Unemployed youth
  • Affidavit confirming no criminal record
  • Relevant experience required for Coordinator roles (minimum 1 year)
  • Good communication and reporting skills
  • Basic computer literacy (especially for Data Coordinators)
  • Knowledge of health and social issues (HIV/AIDS, TB, STIs, etc.)
