Job Description

The CATHSSETA Internship Program is a 12- to 24-month structured work-based learning opportunity designed to provide on-the-job training, mentorship, and industry exposure. Interns will be placed within CATHSSETA offices, affiliated organizations, or companies in the tourism, hospitality, arts, and sports sectors.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support the administrative and operational functions of CATHSSETA or host organizations.
  • Assist in the planning and execution of projects related to tourism, hospitality, arts, and sports.
  • Conduct research and data collection to support sector skills planning and policy development.
  • Participate in event planning and coordination within relevant industries.
  • Assist with customer service, marketing, and communications efforts.
  • Gain practical experience in finance, human resources, supply chain, and business management functions.
  • Work closely with industry professionals to develop critical problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Prepare reports, presentations, and official documentation as needed.

Requirements

To qualify for the CATHSSETA Internship Program, applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • Education: Must have a National Diploma or Degree in a relevant field from a recognized institution.
  • Age: Between 18 and 35 years old.
  • Skills & Competencies:
    • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
    • Analytical thinking and problem-solving abilities.
    • Basic computer literacy (MS Office, email, and internet).
    • Passion for the tourism, hospitality, arts, or sports industries.
    • Ability to work independently and within a team.
  • Residency: Must be a South African citizen.
  • Work Authorization: Must have valid work authorization for South Africa.
  • Availability: Must be available for the full duration of the internship.
