About the Programme

The Gauteng Department of Infrastructure Development, through its Expanded Public Works Programme, is recruiting 2,500 unemployed youth for the National Youth Service Programme (NYS). This initiative aims to provide valuable work experience to young individuals across Gauteng's five corridors:

  • City of Johannesburg
  • City of Tshwane
  • City of Ekurhuleni
  • Sedibeng District
  • West Rand District

Requirements
  • Age: 18 - 33 years old (Must be below 35 for the duration of the contract)
  • Education: Grade 11 or above (Relevant qualifications required for Technical Trades & Administration roles)
  • Must have a valid South African ID
  • Must reside near the project site (for accessibility & convenience)
  • Must be available for the full 24-month duration
  • No criminal record
  • Must not have participated in the NYS Programme before
