Job Description

The National Health Laboratory Service (NHLS) is offering an internship program for unemployed graduates seeking practical experience in the medical, scientific, and administrative sectors. This 12-month internship provides young professionals with hands-on training, mentorship, and career development opportunities in a structured learning environment.

Interns will gain valuable industry exposure, contribute to public health services, and work alongside experienced professionals in one of South Africa’s most critical health institutions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in medical laboratory testing, research, and diagnostics

  • Collaborate with health professionals, scientists, and government stakeholders
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations
Requirements
  • Must be a South African citizen
  • Aged 18 – 35 years
  • Must have completed a National Diploma, Degree, or Postgraduate Qualification in a relevant field
  • Strong analytical, research, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work in a high-paced, regulated environment
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office & relevant software
  • No prior work experience required (internship or volunteer experience is a plus)
