About the Internship Programme
SA National Parks (SANParks) is offering a dynamic Internship Programme designed to provide young graduates with hands-on experience in the conservation, tourism, and environmental sectors. This programme aims to develop skills, enhance career prospects, and expose interns to various aspects of managing South Africa’s national parks.
The internship is targeted at unemployed graduates who are passionate about conservation, sustainability, and contributing to the preservation of South Africa’s rich biodiversity.
Key Responsibilities
As an intern at SA National Parks, you will:
- Gain practical work experience in one of SANParks’ departments, such as Conservation, Tourism, Finance, Human Resources, Communications, or IT.
- Assist with environmental research, data collection, and analysis for conservation efforts.
- Support park operations, visitor services, and eco-tourism projects.
- Participate in community engagement and environmental awareness initiatives.
- Provide administrative and project support within assigned teams.
- Learn about the laws, policies, and regulations governing national parks in South Africa.
- Work closely with mentors and professionals in the field.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Must be a South African citizen.
- A recent graduate (or final-year student) with a National Diploma or Degree in a relevant field, such as:
- Environmental Science / Conservation / Ecology
- Tourism & Hospitality
- Finance / Accounting
- Human Resources / Administration
- Information Technology (IT)
- Communications / Public Relations / Marketing
- Strong interest in nature conservation, sustainability, and tourism.
- Good communication and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Willingness to travel and work in different environments.
